I am one to drag my birthday out for the entire month; I always think why limit yourself to doing all the fun stuff in just one day … so roll on June, the birth-month.
That may put a bit of pressure on my boyfriend who seemingly feels like he has to keep up with my level of birthday – ahem, sorry I mean birthmonth – excitement. And this year he has managed to top them all.
I’m packing up my stuff on a Friday afternoon ready for a few days off work when his car pulls up outside the office and takes me back to the flat where my suitcase and passport are laid out on the bed: “we’re going away!”
I managed to keep the location a surprise for as long as possible. Even when we touched down in Verona I wasn’t entirely sure what country I was in (Geography is not my strong point). All I have been told by Mum is to pack good outfits.
A taxi ride later and we are in the most beautiful hotel I can imagine. Our room has a balcony overlooking Lake Garda and views of the castle that we drove through to get to the hotel. I am in love!
Now don’t get me wrong I am no jetsetter and this is not a regular occurrence. But that’s what makes it all the more special.
Mum was right, I did need to pack nice outfits because the evenings out here are for wondering around the lake and eating in the most beautiful restaurants.
So, here’s my top Lake Garda outfit choices:
Playing with lengths
A pastel pink ankle length blazer juxtaposed the black mini dress. Acessorised with a YSL clutch and evil eye tassel necklace
Waterfront Black & White
A black co-ord set with gem-studded flowers gave me the ultimate holiday feeling
Relying on the LBD
My LBD never fails. It has a t-shirt top half and a tutu style bottom and was sophisticated-up with leather stud sandals.
This is my must-have item this year – the silk trouser. It works for so many different occasions.
Pastel pink trousers with a black body suit and mini backpack served me well for a day of wondering around Milan and of course checking out their local shops.
